Steve's barking at weird Science

Things are getting weired out there in the world of science.
Several years ago there was a hole in the ozone layer At the South Pole.
Then two years ago the hole disappeared.
We had one of the biggest volcanoes in years. Normally when that much ash is thrown into the air the earth gets cooler, this year it got hotter.
Now scientist are saying that the upper atmosphere is thinning out for no apparent reason.
I would have given the chances of the end of the world according to the Myan calender .0000001% .
Now I give a 2% chance.
Weird Science.

Steve's barking at NYS Attorney Generals Office

The papers of New York State are given credit to Attorney General Cuomo as to Pension abuse or as he tried to put it overtime abuse to pad the pension.
I've read the press release, and I've seen the report. As an ex-auditor let me say that it's a simple desk audit that at best 75 hours should be allocate to this audit. That's right audit, not an investigation which should be what the Attorney Generals office should be doing.
Did the Attorney General discover any fraud? The answer is a resounding no. Did it get the general public  riled up against government workers. The answer is a resounding yes.
If he was looking for fraud he would have to allocate 10000 hours to compare every former worker who is getting a pension was on the payroll prior for five years prior to requesting a pension.
Was an investigation underway to determine if that overtime wasn't needed in those departments that were giving it.
Nothing in the audit indicated how much over time was given in the departments five years prior to looking at  those former employees who received overtime in large excess then previous years.
None of those who received overtime that help give the ex-employees did anything illegal contract and civil service law grants the way overtime is metered out. The Attorney Generals office should know that.
The fact that the report later states that contracts are the reason the way overtime is metered out.
Audits like these are the job of the comptrollers office not the Attorney Generals Office.
This audit coming out of the Attorney Generals Office is a total waste of money. One can draw the conclussion that Andrew Cuomo is pandering to the lowest members of the voting public.

Steve' barking at people who are afraid of government spending.

Here we go again.
I just happen to be surfing on the boob tube and saw one of those financial networks.
A person was on the show who ran a business. Now this genius kept complaining about the deficit and how it will hurt business. Now I'm not saying this person is just lucky at running a successful enterprise but unless more people are working with  a much higher disposable income then is now in place there is  a 50/50 chance that in ten years from now his business will be extinct. Maybe I'm just a Keynesian at heart but just keeping tax low just ain't going to do it. Government is going to have to spend including helping states with their budget deficits. If we don't spend the private sector will be in as big of trouble as the public sector. In order to sell a product besides a demand there has to be a way for to pay for it.

One of the things that those sharp business people who complain about government spending will make the deficit worse are in fact setting up a larger deficit compared to GDP.
It maybe a difficult conception  the deficit will get worse while government spending  is lessened.
