Steve’s Barking; DC 51

There is a call for the District of Columbia to be the 51st state of the United States. After all there are 700,000 people living in the nations capitol and only 650,000 persons in Wyoming because we don’t count sheep. Now on the surface making Washington the 51st state would seem like a good idea. Equal representation after all is the democratic way. Hold on, I live in a state that has over 18 million people, Texas, Florida, and California have a whole lot more. We all have only two Senators each and of the two branches of congress, I have to say the senate unfortunately is more powerful.
Now most of those who are pushing for the DC to be the 51st state have a problem with the electoral college. After all the electoral college is unfair to the will of the people.  Certain states might have more weight in electing the president of the United States then other states. Now this is true in making laws, states with fewer people have as much larger say in the senate then states with larger populations. Why do those who complain about the unfairness of the electoral college want to strengthen another unfair(?) system?

Now I’m all for Washingtonians to have a voice in the federal government, but I think it might be fairer if they were citizens of Virginia or perhaps Maryland!

 * Perhaps we should get rid of the Senate 😁🤡🤡. That would equalize all states.

Steve’s Barking; The coming(non) hyper inflation

Oh I’ve heard it again, the printing of money is going to cause the worst inflation this country has ever seen. This is explained by some serious sounding person who (along with hundreds of thousands) predicted the housing bubble, recession of 2008. Of cause this person who is predicting this hyper inflation either works or is the boss of this really prestigious firm and sometimes he in the economics department of a real prestigious university.
Ok, let me repeat what I’ve written about so many times before, the money that the Federal Reserve is printing(?) is actually replacing money that the country has burned. Now if you happen to stumble on this blog and you don’t understand what I’m saying tough.
Now my understanding that most inflation is more of a supply and demand phenomenon and that includes the inflation of the Weimar Republic (Sorry the hyper inflation had little to do with the supper printing of money but the strict austerity forced on it by the victorious allies in World War I).
What no one seems to talk about is the pockets of high inflation in places like NYC and San Francisco, plus places that struck it rich in the oil boom areas of the country. No one says gee their are an awful lot of stock that are inflated.( In case you don’t understand I’m trying to explain that their are pockets of inflation that no one seems to put it in their mindset). (There are also places that are in deep recession in the farm belt).
Maybe on another day I’ll try to explain in logical terms on the Nixon, Reagan inflation stagflation.

Steve’s Barking; When progressive is really regressive!

Defund the police, so say it a group of persons who call themselves progressives. Now the true progressive would say add money for training to reduce injuries to the public. Add money to for psychologists as the suicide rate and depression has gone up among police officers.

In New York City they want to close Rikers Island prison system of seven prisons for four smaller jails. One of the reason the people who call themselves progressive is that it would be easier for relatives to visit the incarcerated as if a person from the Bronx is accused of a crime in Brooklyn or the other way around. In smaller prisons how do you protect inmates from each other? How do you segregate gang members? How do you protect staff and other prisoners from the mentally ill? One would think that having seven prisons that it’s possible to have one prison being repaired while 5 or 6 are in operation. No 4 separate prisons in 4 different Burroughs isn’t progressive it’s really regressive tied up in a pretty bow.

How can anyone but me argue about safety bike lane with barriers. The way I see it those barriers slow traffic down, spewing carbon monoxide into the air. The same people who call themselves progressive, most of them are all for reducing carbon in the air because of climate change. Am I wrong in thinking that barriers to protect bicyclist are regressive not progressive?

*Am I wrong in thinking what some call progressive thinking is really regressive?

Steve’s Barking; So ya think New York is a Democratic town?

I keep hearing from the mass media that NYC is a democratic town. So tell me why is it that the seven terms of New York City mayors 5 had Republican after their names? Perhaps if you have something that resonates with the voters NewYork City is more open minded then ya might think.

Steve’s Barking; He’s still in NYC?

What’s with Sean Hannity. The dude keeps harping about how terrible New York City is. So why is he still here. The pandemic shows that you can work from anywhere. Hell he can work in a studio from the great state of Florida or even the greater state of Texas, so Mr. Hannity why the hell are you still in NYC, after all you would keep more money in either of those two states, so why are you still here?

Steve’s Barking; To mask or not to mask

The CDC is the agency that during a health emergency we all should follow their guidance. Problem with their guidance during this current pandemic is the masking of to wear a mask or not to wear a mask.
First we’re told that we don’t need a mask. Then we’re told that we must wear a mask in case we have the COVID virus and that would help stop the spread. Then we’re told that wearing a mask is helpful in not getting the virus.and it’s 70 percent effective. Then we’re told that two mask are better then one, and it’s 90 percent effective.
There is a distrust factor of government and this mask or not to mask doesn’t make things easier!

Steve’s Barking;COVID 19 Money and Death

Well, it seems that there was a no win situation when it came to COVID 19.  If businesses were closed there would be no money in the state coffers. How ya going ta pay da bills. Opening up for business, well sickness and death will surely follow. The Governors had a dilemma, some chose ta  keep business open not caring what the  health consequences were.Others limited business, not caring what the money consequences were. There really wasn’t any correct choices were there? This can be said for world governments as well as state.

Steve’s Barking; Bitching about election being rigged in 2012

I having time on my hands went back and looked at a recruiting message from the Bronx Tea Party.
Part of the recruitment was that the voting machines were rigged. Now if one understands this was something calling the election being rigged was started long before this current election. It been in practice for many elections. Now we have millions of people who believe that the voting machines were rigged.
I guess practice makes perfect in the belief that voting machines are rigged or if you repeat a lie enough times people will believe you.

Steve’s Barking; Freedom of speech on social media is bad for the writer?

So you tweet very bad things about politicians and then you have to face those same politicians at your confirmation hearing. Do you really think you will be confirmed.

You riot in the streets and post it in Facebook do you really think you will not be arrested?

You post insensitive things on Twitter and Facebook, do you really think you wouldn’t be fired?

You call your boss an a hole on Twitter, do you really think you’ll have a job tomorrow?

You complain about the working conditions of your job, do you really think that HR is going to look the other way?

Be careful of what you post on social media, freedom of expression in reality is a government thing, not a real life thing!

Steve’s Barking; To be attorney general of New York you have to be involved in a sex Scandal

Is it a pre-requisite to be attorney general of New York State to be involved in a sex scandal.
Just think about it with Governor Andrew Cuomo is being charged with sexual harassment he is just a member of the last three attorney generals of that have emerged as having some sort of sex scandals attached to the them. First was Elliot Spitzer paying for prostitutes. Then we had Eric Schneiderman who beat up his girlfriends, and the attorney general between Spitzer and Schneiderman was Andrew Cuomo.

* Eliot Spitzer and Andrew Cuomo accusations of bad sexual behavior was after they became governor.
