Steve's barking at the communist conspiracy

Now I know that there are no more communist anymore, after the the fall of the Soviet Union. China has adopted capitalism, Cuba is heading that way, Venezuela is just a contrary country, and North Korea is really a kingdom (pop, son, son leadership).
After I've just written should be the end of communist, but that's not true, thanks to the Koch ( pronounced coke as in cocaine) brothers. They claim that they're free libertarians, but the truth of the matter their really communist. Kind of like the Manchurian Candidate their father went to the Soviet Union as a businessman, but the truth he was brain washed and became a sleeper agent so evil that he joined the John Birch Society to hide his real intentions. He past on his evil intentions to two of his sons who claimed to be free libertarians or as I call them anarchist. Thus weakening this country so much that the communist come in and make this the first truly communist country ruled by the wicked witch of the west Helen Thomas.
This must be true or I couldn't post it on a blog.

Thank you Glen Beck

Steve's barking at me vs 100

Me, I'm the lone ranger, I think those who keep screaming about the deficit have no idea what they're screaming about.
The deficit of this country can be taken care of in one fell swoop, just by having all workers pay the full freight of social security tax, not just those who make under 106,000 dollars.
Now that's a novel idea, having those making over 106,000 pay their own way, instead of getting a tax break. in other ways I'm saying if you make over 106,000 you and the company you work for get a Hugh tax break, even those who make under $1,000 have to give up 6 and 1/4 of their pay.
Now there  is two things wrong with the previous paragraph. I'm writing that the United States must give up it's bogeyman and stop worrying about the deficit. The country would actually have a fair payroll tax.
The fact that I'm sure that 300,000,000 people don't believe this makes it me against 100.

Steve's barking at why do most senior citizens on TV look to be in their 40s

Is it just me or do most commercials on the tube that are trying to sell some kind of medicine, (the majority of commercials for us over 50) seem to have actors look to be in their 40s playing the part of senior citizens. Tell me were are the wrinkles, were are the pot bellies and the turkey necks. Why are none of the men bald  Whats with these extremely health looking men who can't get it up. I bet there are some really obese and and unhealthy guys who say to their obese and unhealthy wives, I maybe fat, I may have high blood pressure, and diabetes, but I don't need no drugs for my sex life.

Steve's barking at progressives? 17 amendment unconstitutional?

I just was looking at u tube. I saw this video from Fox ( I can't believe they call this) News. On it was this ex-judge Napolitano claiming that the 17Th amendment was unconstitutional. (I wish I knew how to upload from another source, this you got to hear).
The reason the honorable Napolitano said it was unconstitutional because it stepped on states rights and our founding fathers  wanted the states to have the last word. What? I must misunderstood what I heard.
States right was what the civil war was fought for, wasn't it?
The history books in NYC when I as a mere lad stated the article of confederation wasn't workable, so our forefathers decided to have a stronger central government, and they brought forth the Constitution. They had to have a consensus, the mostly manufacturing north against the large landholders from the south.
Now this is from the history books that I read in NYC, it seems that our forefathers like the idea of the English system with a house of Lords (the senate) and the house of commons ( congress). They didn't trust all the people all the time so they had the states appoint their senators. Our founding fathers did have the wisdom to put into our Constitution an ability to amend it. Well those damn  progressives decided that they were going to trust the people and have them elect directly the senators. Of cause the states agreed with those damn progressives,  because if they didn't, the amendment wouldn't become part of the Constitution.

Now lets get back to this word progressive that I keep hearing on the sly old fox news network.
I looked up the word Progressive in my Marion Webster dictionary.
One believing in moderate political change.
Social improvement by government action.

Now call me slow, but I just don't understand how the Honorable Judge Napolitano can call the height of progressive movement just prior to the roaring 20s.
Giving the women the right to vote, He's right that was progressive.
Making alcohol illegal in the Constitution,  that was draconian.
Now I wouldn't call a President that called "The Birth of A Nation" an accurate depiction of history progressive. Nor the same president who payed 3/4 the pay for African American soldiers because he believed that the were 3/4 of a man. (Not exactly social improvement by government).

Are progressives evil  setting up  sewer systems. Having National Parks system. Trying to make sure that the food we eat is safe.  These are some of the progressive things that happened between Roosevelt and Wilson.
I guess it was a terrible progressive era.

Steves barking at the China US trade war?

Oh no mister Bill China is complaining that the US fed is cheapening the dollar leading to a trade war.
No the fed is not cheapening the dollar its actually doing just the opposite?
What the f***?
The fed is buying bonds, putting more money in circulation there by enabling the people of the United States to by the products produced in China.
Now possible this is just a ruse to on the Chinese part as payback for the United States pushing to have the Yuan higher.
Of cause I'm still trying to think of 20 US Businesses that would hyper US workers to sell their wares to the Chinese if the yuan was revalued. I can't think of 15 or even 10.
Now the cost of goods that are sold in the US that are made in China will go up and or profits of certain will go down.   There's even a good chance  US unemployment will rise.
Nothing like having 19Th century economics to the 21st century.

Steve's barking at the bankruptcy of America

America's not going bankrupt or is it?
I'm writing about fiscal bankruptcy, not moral bankruptcy which I'm sure some one else can blog about.
So, how can that be, after all the United States is the richest country in the world?
I'm going to be very brief, if you borrow money and don't pay it back under the the terms that it was borrow, you are in default of that loan.
The way I see the U.S. government borrowed money from the social security trust fund. Now there is talk by politicians of not paying the whole amount as promised. If this were to happen that means that the government reneged on it's deal when borrowing the money.
Now because I'm a plain simple guy (some might even say I'm a simpleton)the only way not to pay what is promised is to declare bankruptcy. This being the case America could very well be declaring it's self bankrupt.

Steve's barking at short selling America

On November 2 the United States voted for the social experiment of the government that governs less governs best.
For this reason I'm short selling the United States. Is the United States economy going  to go down the tubes? You betcha !
Can the federal reserve save the economy? Not on its best day.
Unemployment insurance extensions going, going, gone. Are these unemployed going to find jobs? I think not. Are they going to buy new clothes or a new car? Are you kidding?
Is the budget going to be past on time? We'll be lucky to have a budget at all. How do I know this? I'm positive that the new representatives are people of their word and they want to reduce spending, the professional politicians will fight them tooth and nail.
We'll no longer have subsidy's for farmers, making many of our farms unprofitable. Less farms, higher prices, higher prices for food, less discretionary income.
The big question is will the US become the new Italy were government was disfuncional? Yes but unlike parliament  governments we can't get rid of the bums until two years.
Will the deficit go down? Are you kidding, it's going to get worse even though we be borrowing less.
Why do I think this foolishness. I can't see why China and or any other countries would want to have our bonds when we can't buy their goods and services.
What about our stock market? Surly the stock market will go up. No way! The big buyers of  stocks are pensions and 401ks. Guess what they will have less money to buy stock, and because less people will  be working they will have to pull money out of the market. Dow Jones less then 8000 in two years anybody.
Unemployment over 20% anybody?
New hiring for the private sector, there's no reason to hire. More business going out of business? Yes because they are trying to get blood out of a stone.
Pray that inflation isn't double digit in two years. Better yet pray that I don't know Jack what I'm writing about. I am.

Steve's barking don't blame Me

Don't blame me, I voted for the madam (Kristien Davis) for governor. She's better suited to be governor of New York then any other candidate. Just think about it.

Steve's barking at the measuring of the US HS compare with Europe education

I've been hearing all my life how bad the United States high school systems can't hold a candle to European high school system. How do they know? It must be some sort of standardized test. Now when I was a young lad the only tests that were the Iowa test and the Sat's. As far as I know they were not given to students over seas. Maybe that has changed or there is another mysterious source of measurement. The other mysterious  measurement is the comparison against the whole population of what would be in high school of the rest of the planet or just those in the equivalent of high school. If it's not every one then the comparison is garbage. That's right our comparisons are total garbage. It's like comparing NYC special high schools that are competitive and one has to take a test against all the other schools in the city and finding that they don't match up.
The reason I'm ranting about this is because I find comparing of our school system against school system that  sends students to trade schools ludicrous  unless of cause the comparison includes those students.

We want to have more of our children going to college to study math, science and engineering.
This is fine if our universities can't fill the seats now with students who desire to take these disciplines  and those who get their degrees in those disciples have no problem getting jobs in them.
This is no laughing matter.

Steve's barking at politicians who believe that government should be the Jerrry Seinfeld Show

As I remember, not to long Jerry Seinfeld had a comedy show about nothing.
As I hear the new populist politicians, they want the US government to do nothing, thereby rendering the United  States one big joke. Why not, after all the Jerry Seinfeld show was a huge hit.
Now let me try to understand these politicians, if we did nothing unemployment would magically disappear.
The sick will heal themselves, corruption will  be a thing of the past and  of cause pigs will fly.
We should believe these politicians are fiscal conservatives, they're willing to spend millions on a job that I believe pays 180,000. That's the reason that we all should trust fiscal conservatives with our money.

Steve's barking at what happen to the loony left?

I always know that if I had low blood pressure I could find some book by some foolish  left wing person that was so outrageous that my blood pressure would right itself.
I was in Barns and Noble today I couldn't find any books by left wing ideologist all I could see was books written by traitorous wrong wing buffoons.
Of cause one can say if  wanted wacko left I can watch MSNBC, or listen to Air America ( I don't believe that they broadcast in NYC, that must be because it used to the name of the CI A's old air force, or so that movie crazy Mel and wild Robert claimed.).
I just can't watch those moronic television stations. Moronic? Yes Moronic. CNN, MSNBC and the most moronic television station Fox News.
Let me try to explain, I'm a news junky, the only thing on the US news networks is opinionated anchor people telling me what they believe the stories are about. The only real news on these stations are on the scroll on the bottom of the screen. They may have 10 to 1 stories on the scroll as if that's all what's happening in the world on any given day.
The other day Ecuador had an coup attempt of cause BBC news and Euro news had live, you wold have never known this from our so called news television. They continued to broadcast their commentaries.
Lawsuit  false advertisement.

Steve's barking at the whine and cry party

I keep hearing how our forefathers who  believed in the people.
There is a cry that says we have to get back to the constitution, and that our forefathers believed in less government. Power to the people and all that.
Now lets look at history, if they believed in the people so much how come we don't have direct voting for the president.
If they believed in the people how come the original constitution the states would pick their senators.
Those who would cry that we should get back to what our founders intended don't know history.
We may have freedom of speech, but John Adam imprisoned his critics, something that our modern presidents wouldn't dare do. They want less taxes and point to our founding fathers. I guess they don't know know of the great whiskey tax.
Thomas Jefferson another one of our founding father who the free libertarians love to quote. I love to quote the best government is the government that governs least too. It a great quote from a great writer. Unfortunately he was one of the great hypocrites that this country ever had. I'll not get into reason why, at least not in this blog. The only thing I'll say he's the liberal version of Nixon.
Thomas Jefferson Liberal? That's what we were taught in high school, and Alexander Hamilton and John Adams were Conservatives.
If ignorance is bliss how come those in the whine and cry party so angry.

Steve's barking at the dumbing down of America

How can anybody say that America s dumbing down after all more and more of the populous are graduating college.? The reason I can say that is the  overwhelming  majority of the country believe in the fantasy that the government just gets in the way and only business creates jobs. People forget that if it wasn't for government half this country wouldn't have electricity. We have to thank our socialist President Roosevelt for that. Would we have computers and the Internet if it wasn't for government? If you listen to the Monday morning quarterbacks on the boob tube the government had nothing to do with it. After all there college graduates so they must be right. We as a nation are starting to believe the fantasy. We blame the SEC for the collapse of our financial system, while not taking a harsh look at Moody's, and Standard and Poors. Enron almost destroyed the economy of California and the private industries that are there.  Speaking of Enron it seems to me the great government agency Arther Anderson certified the soundness of the company.Oh that's right it's was a private concern.
Let me state this true ism right now, the only reason for a business is to make money, not to create jobs, not to create social justice, nor to make life better.
Because of the true ism one business can harm another business or even destroy another industry ( I understand this is hard to compute, I'll explain at another time).
You know a lot of the time government even helps industry ( I know that's another concepts that's hard to understand).
Can government get in the way and hurt job growth by over regulation? As Sara Palin would say "You Betcha".  Of cause it's not the overwhelming job killer that the majority of the populous would have you believe.

Steve's barking at what's going to become of the written word ( slightly more boring then usual)

In the near future I don't see newspapers that are made of paper. There will be no more books that are made of paper. Every thing will be done on some sort o electronic delivery system. Why may you ask? That's quite simple the cost.  It is so much cheaper to have electronic magazines, newspapers, and books. Publishers will no longer have to buy paper, they will no longer have warehouse their wares, nor will they have to deal with returns, which I understand can be a real pain and quite expensive. Perhaps because the expense to produce a magazine, books, and newspapers a whole new slew of publishers will pop up and variety will be king.
Unfortunately we will lose jobs and bookstore and magazine stands will no longer exist as we know them but I don't see anyway around it. The good authors will still be paid their high rate of advancement, even though the price of magazines, newspapers and books should go down.
What will be missing is how to entice the person who sees a story on the cover of the magazine or newspaper and buy the paper or magazine. The same is true for the person who who buys a book after reading the jacket. I'm sure that the new publishers and even the old publishers will figure a way to separate the public from it's money.
He one thing I'm surprised that e-book aren't subsidised yet. I pad's and e-book readers will probably be subsidised soon just as cell phone telephones are.

Steve's barking at Germany's full employment

I just saw on the boob tube a group of talking heads talking about full employment in Germany, stating that the reason for full employment in Germany is (let me try to get this right) they learned their lesson and are prudent not running up a deficit.
Now I'm going plainly state no one can state that as a fact. What is a fact is that producers have to a product that the consumer is want to purchase and the ability to buy. Now I'm going to state, perhaps looking like a fool that Germany's full employment is short lived, if they are counting on exports she will be court up in the world wide recession just like every other country. Of cause I can be wrong if her major export partner is China.

Steve's Barking at the Pizza index

Today I'm yelping at a very boring topic, the inflation of the price of a slice of New York pizza compared to salaries.
I'm going to use 1972 as my standard to start with because that was the first full year that the United States full abandoned gold. I'm going to us cheese pizza as the commodity that I judge wages on because it doesn't change, the ingredients stay the same, flour, water, tomato sauce, cheese and olive oil.  If I were to use cars, televisions, or even houses there are so many variations in those products that have happen in those 38 years it would be impossible to compare wages against those products, the cheese pizza has stayed constant.
I have checked a NY times article from January 12,2002 which stated that the cost of a slice of plain cheese pizza was 35cents I have checked my local pizza parlors and the price ranges from 2 dollars to 2.50 using the 2 dollar option the job one has now would have to make 5.8 times the type of job just to stay even.
Now if one uses 2.50 ones job would have 7 times the pay to be even.
Lets say that in 1972 you had a job that payed 7,133 dollars (The mean pay per social security administration) and that job pays  39,652 in 2008 (the mean pay per social security administration).
The 2 dollar pizza means that the job now pays more by about 10%, if the norm is 2.50  then the jobs worth has dropped by  28% which I think is closer to norm.
Now this is just an exercise, it has no meaning just as most economic reasoning has none.

Steve's barking at our who does more for the economy?

The question of the day is who has done more is has done a better job The US government or Al-Qaeda?
The answer is quite simple, that terrorist organization. The one that wants top bring this country to it's knees.
The fact of the matter is that the United States has added over 900,000 jobs in the security Field both in the private and the public sector since the attack on 911.
What has our government done? Let me guess, they cower at the thought of government handouts.
Washington is beaming that the car industry only lost 45% of it's factory work force.
A lot of the idiots on the financial news channels that the government should do nothing and that government is the problem. They claim that we have done too much. If we have done too much why do we have such high unemployment. Oh that's right businesses is in the businesses to lose money so they will create jobs so that other businesses can make money.( If that confusing to anybody who just happens to see this blog, just skip over it in your mind).
States are losing money and so the have to lay off workers or try to give their workers less pay. Now if there was a terrorist threat money be damn, the feds would throw good money after bad a it. Employing more people then you could shake a stick at it.
So simply put if the terrorist wanted to bring down this country by economic means, there better off leaving us alone.

Steves barking at Prestigious papers

I've been reading articles from prestigious professor from very prestigious universities. There something wrong here, thawt they have been putting out papers that I would have gotten D's or even F's in high school and  Pace business school ( which in case you didn't know is now Pace Uuniversity)
I've read reports from the Manhattan institute and Cato Institute, I'm still bewildered how anybody can pay somebody for incomplete work. Even greater the media (for lack of a better work) quotes them as if they are an authority on the garbage they put out. Laziness rules.  Long live Laziness.

Steve's barking at this and that.

It's been sometime since I let of steam on this blog.
It's not that things are going well in the world, the fact of the matter things are worse, so I'm telling everyone who just happens to stumble on this blog things are getting stupider and stupider in the real world.
I'm trying to understand the reason by those who are against the mosque near ground zero, are they saying that the group that took out the World Trade Center are trying to build a monument to this tragic act. It's possible but the probability are next to zero.
There are those who believe that if you do nothing the economy will improve. They offer no rhyme or reason why this is true, they claim this that a group of Conservative economist say it's so.
Then you have a group of governors who are believe that it's unconstitutional to force everyone to buy health care. If you take that a step further it should be unconstitutional to force the citizen to buy into a system of  health insurance for the aged called medicare. Perhaps it should be unconstitutional to force people to have retirement insurance better known as social security. Why should government force the buying of car insurance for driving your car, isn't that unconditional.
Oh yea since I last posted the oil spill in the Gulf just disappeared. Vanished into thin air, or at least evaporated.
Some guy with a big funny nose is publishing what he believes is the new Pentagon papers.
I can go on and on, but why?

Steve's barking at weird Science

Things are getting weired out there in the world of science.
Several years ago there was a hole in the ozone layer At the South Pole.
Then two years ago the hole disappeared.
We had one of the biggest volcanoes in years. Normally when that much ash is thrown into the air the earth gets cooler, this year it got hotter.
Now scientist are saying that the upper atmosphere is thinning out for no apparent reason.
I would have given the chances of the end of the world according to the Myan calender .0000001% .
Now I give a 2% chance.
Weird Science.

Steve's barking at NYS Attorney Generals Office

The papers of New York State are given credit to Attorney General Cuomo as to Pension abuse or as he tried to put it overtime abuse to pad the pension.
I've read the press release, and I've seen the report. As an ex-auditor let me say that it's a simple desk audit that at best 75 hours should be allocate to this audit. That's right audit, not an investigation which should be what the Attorney Generals office should be doing.
Did the Attorney General discover any fraud? The answer is a resounding no. Did it get the general public  riled up against government workers. The answer is a resounding yes.
If he was looking for fraud he would have to allocate 10000 hours to compare every former worker who is getting a pension was on the payroll prior for five years prior to requesting a pension.
Was an investigation underway to determine if that overtime wasn't needed in those departments that were giving it.
Nothing in the audit indicated how much over time was given in the departments five years prior to looking at  those former employees who received overtime in large excess then previous years.
None of those who received overtime that help give the ex-employees did anything illegal contract and civil service law grants the way overtime is metered out. The Attorney Generals office should know that.
The fact that the report later states that contracts are the reason the way overtime is metered out.
Audits like these are the job of the comptrollers office not the Attorney Generals Office.
This audit coming out of the Attorney Generals Office is a total waste of money. One can draw the conclussion that Andrew Cuomo is pandering to the lowest members of the voting public.

Steve' barking at people who are afraid of government spending.

Here we go again.
I just happen to be surfing on the boob tube and saw one of those financial networks.
A person was on the show who ran a business. Now this genius kept complaining about the deficit and how it will hurt business. Now I'm not saying this person is just lucky at running a successful enterprise but unless more people are working with  a much higher disposable income then is now in place there is  a 50/50 chance that in ten years from now his business will be extinct. Maybe I'm just a Keynesian at heart but just keeping tax low just ain't going to do it. Government is going to have to spend including helping states with their budget deficits. If we don't spend the private sector will be in as big of trouble as the public sector. In order to sell a product besides a demand there has to be a way for to pay for it.

One of the things that those sharp business people who complain about government spending will make the deficit worse are in fact setting up a larger deficit compared to GDP.
It maybe a difficult conception  the deficit will get worse while government spending  is lessened.

Steve's barking at who's responsible foul up in the Gulf of Mexico

Just who responsible that the oil spill isn't being cleaned up ion the Gulf of Mexico?
Well let me tell you. It's the ghost of Ronald Reagan.
The old mighty great communicator's came down from the heavens and prevented the the US government from doing it's duty. His ghost proclaiming that government shouldn't do it's job after all government is the problem. His chorus better known as the Reagan disciples would  scream Business knows what it's doing and government can't even run the postal service.
Now we all know that after Reagan no politician or almost no politician would dare tell the watchdog agency to do there job and the more gravies office holder would get legislation past, weakening these agencies were one has to wounder why they exist.
The ghost of Ronald has a strong hold on this nation an as long as we areafraid to do anything to protect the citizen from foolish behavior we are going to have oil spills, lousy health care, and an economy that will be almost at death's door.

Steve's barking 1 plus 1

We all know that one plus one equals two, but what if a group of children were taught  that one plus equals three? What would happen if this became widely excepted?
Now the people who know better would make fun of those who believe that one plus one equals three and those who believe this would attack those who don't as socialist or even worse communist or what ever ist that group is scared of.
The one plus one = three would then ask  those who believe that one plus one =  two to prove it. This would be an almost impossible thing to do, so therefore one plus one now equals three, screwing up all mathematical equations and bring anarchy to the world.
Welcome to the world of history and economics.

steve's barking at the recession.

We are out of the recession. How do I know this? I turn on the Boob Tube and those commentators on those business networks tell me so. They tell me that the economy grow by 1 tenth of 1 percent this quarter and some other ridicules  number the quarter before this and the quarter before that.  They also mentioned that the recession started when we had three negative quarters in a row.
Now we called this thing a recession because we didn't want to call it a depression, a depression being something that's really terrible. We call a depression a depression because we don't want to call it a panic like the really old days, that's more ominous then a depression.
What would  happen if we decided to call it a mild recession if unemployment hit 5% real numbers not government numbers, over 7 %  recession and over 10% a deep recession and over 13% real numbers an oh no depression.
Put that in your pipe you modern day economist and smoke it.

Steve's barking at history

History!
The wise guys tell us that we study history so we don't repeat the mistakes of the past.
The really wise guys will tell you that most history is really fiction.
Now I know that Willie Mays had a career batting average of 302 and Mickey Mantle had 299 batting average. Now what kind of mistake will we not repeat by knowing those statistic.
Now I'm assuming that 99 percent of those who study world history will tell you that the free printing of  the German Mark during the Wiemar Republic  caused the greatest inflation known to man. The truth of the mater was the other way around because the German government couldn't buy anything because they owed the rest of the world respiration for World War I. They had no real money and had to print money to pay for the inflated prices of goods and services. The reason I'm bring this up because we think we know history i stating that Europe is going to have high inflation along with high unemployment, the reason is they believed the fiction that is mistaken for history.
We in the United States can't be to smug at the Europeans we believe in fiction for history too.
Lets take the economic history that Paul Volcker stop inflation and ended high unemployment because of his stubbornest.
We seem to forget that the Iran, Iraq War was going on, forcing those two forces to flood the market with oil. We also secretly were selling arms to both sides. These arms were made in the good old US of A.
( I do believe that we are an oil society and the best thing we can do is get oil from a stone).
My other problem with history is some of the fools who teach it. I don't know about other countries but in this country we have people like Newt Gingrich who either doesn't know much about our history or knows about but twists it for his own twisted purposes. Every times I hear him speak I keep telling myself I didn't learn it that way.
Every time I decide to torture myself and put on Fox news, I hear there commentators talk about history that is more like Grimms fairy tales then history. The only thing I have to say about this predicament is that the word education system is failing the world.

Steve's barking about Times Square Bombing

Over this past weekend some fool decided that it would be a good idea to have an explosion in Time Square. Now it's been reported that the bomb was kind of amateurish, but if it had worked which according to news reports would have had a devastating effect killing and maiming many people. It's also been reported that the would be bomber got his training in Pakistan by the Taliban. If I'm understanding this correctly the Pakistan Taliban are amateurish.
Now we have many heroes in this attempted bombing, but we would have had a even greater hero if some one had stop this would be terrorist when he was getting out of his truck( or what ever it was that he was driving) for if the bomb wasn't a  dud there wouldn't be any heroes. What's with our cameras in the area. Didn't they pick up that something was strange that some dude gets out of his vehicle in the middle of of the crossroad to the world and just leaves it there. I tried to drop my daughter at the port authority and a policeman shooed me on.
As far as Muslim terrorist are concern, I just don't get it, there actions make it harder for them to convert non-Muslims. Also they are killing devout Muslims at a far greater number then us so called infidels. These so called jihadest seem to care more about the image of a profit then that of Allah (God as we infidels call him). For isn't it a fact that he made man in his own image.

Steve's barking run don't walk the US economy

Here we go again, I'm barking that the economy is going down the tubes just when you hear on the telly that the US economy is going great guns. You hear it that Ford and GM made money this past quarter. (It just goes to show that you don't pay interest nor having to pay bond holders what is do them you too can make money.) US Steel has made more money then it's made in years, that there's a possibility that it may go from being the 5th biggest steel maker to being 4th or maybe even 3rd.
Now the big bad news the European Union is so damn conservative in there economic out look and there solution the dept crisis is so draconian that Europe will bring a much harsher recession then they faced in 09.
It's kind of like what happened after World War II on Germany. My gut feeling is that the selling to Europe will slow down to a crawl.
Speaking of a crawl, the BP Gulf oil spill will hurt the fishing industry. The non Gorton fisherman is not going to be able to buy new cars, will have trouble with their mortgages, etc.
Speaking Of etc New York State will suffer great hardship because of the fur lows to state workers, at least 10,000 workers will default on their mortgages, rent and car payments credit cards ect. Having a ripple effect that will go down the whole economy of New York State. Those state that issued furlows had the smart to do it once a month not once a week. And even then that rate their economies suffered.
Gee maybe one day we'll learn the lessons of economic history, until that time we will be ruled by economic fools.

Steve's barking at Arizona's experiment, and G warfare

As a progressive I know that stopping people on the street and asking them to prove that they are n this country is dead wrong but I still think it's a great experiment. We've been told that with out  illegals bossiness in this country would come to a grinding halt. In the next couple of months were going to find out if this is true in Arizona, or this is one belief that this is hot air, just another urban myth so to say. For it was reported on one of the so called news channels that illegal immigrants were leaving Arizona in droves.

What ever happen to the American spirit, we were the one's who practically invented gorilla warfare, in the past 60 some odd years we've let our enemies use this tactic on us instead of using it on them. No only that we wine about it. (When it  comes to war I'm a Monday morning general).

Steve's barking what's this thing called marriage

Tell me about marriage. I'm working on my second marriage and I till don't get it.
The reason I'm stating this real unimportant question for the past several years there has been a push for (lack of a better term) gay marriages.
Now I grow up in a generation were a large minority felt that a marriage was an institution something akin to prison, and the only reason one was to get married was to break up by getting a divorce. These people would live together, saying we don't need no stinking paper to show our love and commitment to one another.
So what is marriage anyway? A commitment to have children? A tax haven.? A moral right to have sex?
Perhaps it's a way to get health care insurance, part of a pension, and social security?
Perhaps marriage is the right to go to the hospital to see someone die.
Some places believe that your not married unless the ceremony was performed by the state, others your not married unless performed by some religious institution (I'll make no comment about that).
I've seen on u tube people pets getting married, and fake baby marriages( I hope). I even heard about some women who wanted to marry the Eiffel Tower ( I'll definitely make no comment about that ).
So in conclusion what's the big deal about marriage, unless one is thinking about getting a divorce.

steve barking complaints about pensions

Oh my it's Armageddon time again. Those boy and I guess Girls at the Manhattan institute have posted that all public pension funds are underfunded by almost one 20Th  of the national debt. I guess that means that that the governments aren't funding the pension funds correctly. I wounder what happened when in the past the pensions of the civil service was much more generous and there hasn't been any defaults on them that I'm aware of. After reading the report in Pravda, our former comptrollers are just a bunch of liars or their office don't know what they were talking about.after all they have been in the past stated that NYS pension fund is over funded. No were in the story did they mention who the actuaries were who were making the judgement that he pension funds are almost 1 trillion dollars underfunded. I know that New York guarantees the pension fund, do all other states, counties and municipalities.
Another group made the claim that almost 50% of house holds in the United state doesn't pay income tax and that a house hold of 4 making up to $50,000 doesn't pay federal income tax. I guess I don't know anyone who is of a family of 4 making $50,000 or less for that matter I don't know anyone who is working that doesn't pay income tax. I know several single people making less then $35000 who pay income tax. I would be more inclined to believe the numbers if it came unfiltered from the IRS and they stated that just under 50% of taxes filed got back all they payed or didn't have to file at all. They would have to e-mail it to me.
Several weeks ago I read an article in the Daily Rag by a professor assistant( what ever that is, and they are real, I looked it up)  from CUNY stating that civil service workers make the same or more then their private sector counter part, his proof in this was a private administration assistant, versus an administration assistant in the city make more then his counter part. Now when I was in private industry an administration assistant was a secretary and secretary were paid poorly or  were very paid. He also claimed that the two people had equal qualifications (The secretary must have had to taken a test). The gist of the article was workers used to take civil service jobs for the pension and he benefits. (Now that's not why most of the people I know took civil service jobs, the real reason was that they were out of work for a while and needed a job took a test and after a while they said F it and stayed on the job). the pay was not as good. Now judging from what I know from Disability and nursing that they recently had to raise their pay because they couldn't keep the personal.
Now as a Taxpayer I'm upset that my money is used to hire this phoney.

Steve's barking at vat

What is VAT? Sounds like something out of a vampire movie.
This is what Big Pauly of the Obama administration is suggesting that we do to reduce the deficit.
Now if I understand this straight everything we buy will end up costing us 10 to 30% more.
This is a bright idea, we should reduce the amount that we spend on discretionary income. Maybe we can actually have 25%  permanent unemployment.
Lets me write of another way to reduce the deficit. Shore up social security by adding 1% to the tax and having no limit on when you stop paying the tax. That way we will never have to pay back what we owe on what was borrowed from the trust fund.
Next we should put an import tax foreign oil, this will have a disincentive for us to import oil and give the oil company an incentive to make oil from algae and from shale.
Next put a 20% tax on imports that sell 80% of there manufactured goods to the U.S. (I'm talking about factories here)
Next put an excise tax on any company that moves it's company off shore, forcing them to pay the highest amount that they paid in taxes over the last five years for the next ten.
We shouldn't worry about what we owe the treasury after all they can print their own money and pay themselves. It's our treasury after all.
I think I writen about how to cut our deficit by about half. Rember the old saying the country that runs a surplus year after year will not last very long at all.

Steve's barking at Fox and Rupert and friends

I just saw this commercial were Zeus (Rupert the Red Murdock) complains about mere mortals (the Obama administration) defying him. His anger makes him say these words; bring on the Kraken (Glen Beck).

A couple of weeks a go I saw part of the Bill O Reilly show, This guy is as dull as dishwater, I don’t know why they just don’t run test patterns in his time slot, it only goes to show how corrupt the Neilson ratings are this guy is suppose to be drawing millions of viewer. I guess it’s put on by cranky old men like me who have a hard time going to sleep.

I caught a bit of Neil Cavuto (think I spelt his name right) spouting economic crap that when I was in the 7th grade, some 50 years ago was proven mathematically wrong, and this dude is a college grad, it doesn’t say much for our present day education system does it.

Rupert the red is going to start charging for people to read his papers online I hope for his sake that his experiment doesn’t become a complete disaster, think of all those over paid columnist that would lose their jobs. I don’t think I can take all the whining how the unions destroyed his newspapers.

I don’t understand why those who profess to be liberals or at least democrats on the Fox News channel turn into bobble head dolls bobbing their heads in agreement with the host. I really can’t fault the reactionary network on this, the buffoon radical network MSNBC has its’ own bobble head dolls. I guess they don’t like to piss off the people who pay the freight.

What’s with John Stossel? There’s a guy who must be paid in the high 6 figures possible 7 and after listening to him for a couple of minutes, the only thing I can discern about his head is that he uses it to grow hair.

Steve's barking at the price of oil

Oh no not again.
The price of future oil delivery is up, up and away.
This is at the same time that there are ships loaded with oil that are waiting all over the word to unload it's cargo. dare I say conspiracy. No it can't be, because the market will straighten things out. Oh by the way pigs can fly.
The true price of oil should be about 35 to 45 dollars a barrel. Don't give me the bull about China and India. The only reason those counties are paying that ridiculous price is due to the large surplus they have excess dollars that they are trying to get rid of (maybe).
The US is in big trouble, in recent history when the price of oil is too high the unemployment rates shoots up. We already have an extremely high unemployment rate what next?

Steve's barking the root of dictatorships

The root of all dictatorships is anarchism.
Now the root of all anarchism is absolute freedom.
Those who demand freedom from government will get just the opposite, we humans demand order. The reality we like strong leaders, though we profess just the opposite. History says in time of trouble we demand a no nonsense leader. Some of those leader are benign dictators like Franklyn Roosevelt, or you can get an Adolf Hitler, or a Joseph Stalin, a Saddam Hussein.
Those clowns at Fox who practice the art of having the pot calling the kettle black, will get exactly what they are now screaming against. Dictatorship, most likely evil such as a Hitler.

Steve's barking at capitalism ruining the free enterprise system

Capitalism ruining the free enterprise system? What Am I some kind of lune?  Every one knows that capitalism and the free enterprise system mutually inclusive, just as everybody knows that Enron was one of the top companies in the United States, and we should always trust the rating services such as Moodys and Standard and Standards and Poors.
Let's get one thing straight if there was a true free enterprise system the interest rates on credit cards would go down because of that magic word competition, unless you have this thing they call collusion were capital inverters say that you can make more money by charging ever and ever higher interest rates until the customer goes bankrupt.
The price of oil in a free enterprise system should go down during a recession but if an investor invest in oil he will try his best to rig the price, we used to believe in supply and demand but if you actually believe that with the price of oil I  'll sell you the Brooklyn Bridge.
If we have a free enterprise system is working so well how come we don't have completion in healthcare insurance, or do investors prefer that the fewer companies the greater the profits?
For those who believe that I have no idea what I'm writing about or are bewildered by reading this blog, thats what the comment box is for.
But then again who reads this blog anyway?

Steve's barking at paying taxes

Why is the human animal the only animal that pays taxes, after all the monkey doesn't pay taxes neither do dogs or cats and for that matter neither do elephants?

I believe those who don't want to pay taxes shouldn't have to pay. All those people will have to do is put the mark of Cain on their foreheads.
Now why should those who don't want to pay taxes put a mark on the forehead? To answer that question all I have to say is why should those who pay for the sidewalks subsidize those who don't, those who don't pay taxes can't walk on my sidewalk, get their garbage collected for free travel on my roads, protected by my police force. ect. ect. (as the king said in the king and I).
There are those who would tell you that they would pay taxes fr things they think are important such as the military but not for that left thinking social services.
There are just as many people who will gladly pay for social services but not for war mongering.
Unfortunately  one can't pick and were his or her tax dollar goes.

Steve's barking at modern day conservatism and Liberalism

What's the difference between being a conservative and a liberal when it comes to what the government should do and what the government shouldn't do.
Now it's my understanding that the conservative movement in the United States Believes in as little government as possible while the liberal movement according to urban myth. The consensus belief that the modern conservative movement doesn't believe in a strong central bank, the original founding fathers conservative believed in a strong central bank and a strong central government and the liberals believed in just the opposite, my how things have changed in he last two hundred years.
Urban Myth of Liberals believe that  women has the right to chose conservative say no, right to life. Conservative belief that government should stay out of the lives of the citizens except when it comes to religion Liberals it is believed to be just the opposite. Now what can one gets from this except modern day liberalism and conservatism is inconsistency.

Steve's Barking at free libertarian

In my heart of hearts I'm a free libertarian. In case you don't know a free libertarian is one of those guys who be live that a government that governs best governs least. The only problem is my brain has a problem with that. He says how can you trust something that doesn't think but only reacts.
Why my heart believes in being a free libertarian, if some one wants to kill himself who am I to try to stop them. There should be no laws against suicide.  Of cause I would probably be killed by some idiot who jumps out the window and falls on me. If he wanted to to himself by shooting himself he would miss and shoot me.
There should be no laws against drugs until I realized that I would probably get a contact high from some pot head and I'd kill myself while driving my car. Those who use harder drugs would be so stoned out that they would jump in front of the train that I'm travelling on or fall in sleep in front of the car I'm driving in.

My brain keeps telling me be cool my friend for you may get what your heart wants.

Steve's barking about columnist and commentators

I'm jealous of those guys who have what I believe outside of no show jobs, the easiest jobs in America. We call them columnist if they happen to write for papers or magazines. They are called  commentators if there on television or the radio.
Th hardest part of being a columnist appears to be being able to write 500 words without having a run on sentence and some semblance that they are literate. Judging from what I've read from some of the columnist that I read they don't have to fact check.
There are  some columnist that I follow that actually write several columns a week and actually do fact checking, but they some times fail to write new columns What they call new columns are actually  old columns that were reworked. I actually like these people for you an actual see that they work at least 40 hours a week and you can see the work that they put in. Most of the columnist that happen to read doesn't look like the put in a hour of work per week. I don't spend much time with this blog but I probably spend more time per week then most columnist and I don't get paid a cent, or do too man people read it.I do it because of passion.
Now let me write about those clowns who make oodles and oodles of money on being on th airwaves. The hardest part of their job is not to have stage fright.  What do they do, the same thing that I use to do at the bars I would hang out at.
There big deal is putting down those who don't have the same frame of mind as they do weather they are dong interviews or just complaining, that goes for those on Fox or MSNBC.  I think I''ll even throw in CNN, You know who I'm talking about. You do don't you.
Now let me say something about these so called men on these show. The fact of the matter is that there really girly men.
What other profession besides television men who are in front of the camera and actors can you (actually have to) put make up on, oh with the possible exception of drag queens.
Now that I've called out men who put on make I better watch my butt for after all Dick Butkus puts on make up, so did Warren Sapp. I know I'm no match for the governator of California ether. I would surly be a girly man if the price was right.

Steve's barking at the wussifcation of the United States

I know I'm missing something, but why is the United States turning into Wuss nation.
Every time I turn on one of those cable news station I keep hearing the the Chicken Little's and the Henny Pennies, screaming the sky is falling, the sky is falling. Public Employees are bankrupting the government.
We can't keep borrowing, the Chinese aren't going to lend us anymore. Were going to have hyper inflation.
We can't have terrorist trials in NYC. The terrorist will try to attack NYC if we do. NYC will become a prime target.
Lets go to the last statement first. NYC is a prime target, that's right NYC is a prime target. The terrorist are trying at his very moment trying to think up ways to attack New York. If we were to have trials in New York there suddenly going to get smarter. I keep hearing and reading from the media that it will cost 200million dollars to have the trial in New York and it will bring hardship on the business' that make up downtown. It's like breaking up the streets doesn't hurt the downtown business district. If we can't have a trial with giving a 95% chance that nothing will happen and that the 200 million dollar price tag will only add 2% better protection. My understanding there have been terrorist trials in London, they had Hussein's trial in Baghdad,
but New York can't have Trial.
Let me try to understand to People's Republic Of China's to wanting to help finance the United State's. That must be because they don't want to buy dollars from exporters of there manufactured goods and replacing them with the Chinese currency. Maybe they want to close those factories and bring on civil unrest.
What are the Chinese going to with the extra dollars, let them just sit there.
Now we come to those pontificators who claim that civil servants are the ruination  of  government budgets.
These pundits who make upwards of high 6 to 7  or 8 figures wanting he civil servant unions to take pay cuts to help a minute portion of government budgets to be closed.
They complain civil servant pensions even though these pensions should be payed for before the member retires.
But  if something isn't done life as we know it will be over.

Steve's barking at the tea party or Alice and wonderland

This week there happens to be a grass root movement called the tea party that is holding a convention. There is nothing wrong with a new political movement, with the exception that it might be financed by the Republican party and it's media arm Fox News. I'm not saying that's the case because in reality I have no proof, the other so called media outfits don't know how to ask the right questions.
Getting back to the people who are attending this gathering. They seem to anti-government anti-tax. They want to compare themselves to the Massachusetts rebels that complained about no taxation without representation when in reality they come closer to those who started the whiskey rebellion with the exception that those who rebelled against the whiskey tax had a legitimate grievance with the government were those who like to call themselves tea par-tiers should call themselves the selfish pr##ks party because the only thing they seem to represent no tax and no health care for the masses.
Now if they were around in the beginning of this country they would be surprised how the founding fathers would have looked down at there political movement. Don't forget the father of our country sent troops to put down this rebellion despite the fact no one had been killed by these put upon citizens.
Every political movement like to call themselves patriotic even the ones that believe that they should leave the union.
I have only one thing to say to these tea par-tiers about my country love it or leave it.
For those who just happen to be reading this blog sorry for the run on sentences.

Steve's barking at the United States losing to terrorist

I'm stating unequivocally that were losing to terrorist.
Are the terrorist killing any Americans in the United States? No
Has there been a successful terrorist Act in the United States since 9/11? No
Then how can I say that were losing to terrorist. Simple, were so afraid of even having a trial in New York City for the mastermind of this terrorist act. People were outraged and scared to death that AL Qada would try to attack New York. I got news for these clowns there trying to attack this city and this country everyday. The mayor saying that it would cost 200 million dollars to have the trial here. What would it have cost to have the Olympics here. Business are going to lose business because of the protection that going to be needed around the court house.Maybe we there shouldn't be any hi profile trials in New York. Let the terrorist win by taking away what made this country great.
Lets through up our hands like Israel does at the hands of terrorist, oh that right doesn't give in to terrorist yet they have more to be frightened about.

Were frightened of everything, we place blame for not stopping the Christmas bomber though he did no harm. I've commented on that in a previous blog.
Bin Laden is enjoying our running around lie chicken littles He boasting about it.
The terrorist are winning, we are behaving like frightened rabbits.

Steve's barking News coverage of Haiti earthquake

I know it's not right to make fun of a catastrophe but if there was another television reporter the island of Hispaniola would have tip over ad fell into the sea.
I wounder to myself did these glamour pusses have to rough it or did they get gourmet food and the best tents and bedding that money could by.
I hope and pray that they left their generators behind for that may actually be beneficial to the island. Yes i realize that e should be well informed about this tragedy but I can't help but wounder if the news organization can make it through why can't supplies make it through?
Do we really need a weather man to tell us what's going on in Haiti?
At least Dr Gupta was of CNN was of great service even though some professor of Journalism from DePaul University complained that reports lose there opjectivity if they are part of the story ( as though he never heard of Fox News, and forgetting all the yellow journalism that this country had since the presidency of George the father of his country Washington.).
I've seen on the TV commentators asking the question why is the relief gong to the populace forgetting that the country was so devastated and that it wasn't a easy to distribute supplies before the earthquake, oh I forgot how easy it was for them to air lift the on air glamour people in.

Steve's Barking at Iran all the way home

Gee what should we do about Iran now that they will have the bomb. You know the big one. The one that could bring about a nuclear winter.
Now judging from history why Iran is challenging the world generally means that the Iran is in trouble. Now some of those dumb pundits say we should help the dissidents. Well that might just be what the the doctor ordered for the rulers of Iran, and there is a good chance that it would hurt the dissidence more then help them. Now how is that possible, after all that what rulers have been saying, hoping that will have the populous behind them.
The same is true if we were to attack Iran, what usually happens, the population rally around the government. Now I'm not saying that we should turn a blinds eye on Iran, I'm not quite sure what should be done, the best I can think of is silent sabotage of Iran's nuclear program and it's military. This of cause will be very hard after all it's not the 50s anymore.

Steve's Barking;Putting our head in th sand about terrorism

Oh No Mister Bill; it that time again to start worrying about terrorist again.
Another terrorist took to the air trying to blow up another airplane. Now it doesn't matter that this guy almost burnt his leg off and that was the biggest excitement that this country has had in a long time. (Perhaps the exploding device isn't very good. Perhaps the device doesn't work when wet, or just isn't powerful enough, well what ever.) Now we got the whole country worried about what should have been done and what the next thing we should to prevent this from happening again. why didn't one agency tell anther and after all didn't the father of this mad bomber warn the Us embassy about his son. Why wasn't he placed on the no fly list. Perhaps it was just plane laziness. We talk about full body scans, and paying our airport security people more money. No amount of money is going to change the boredom of doing a monotonous job day in and day out. People really think that full body scanners will really work, when the real problem is laziness and boredom.

Steve's barking death tax vs Ghoul income

This is terrible. Our government might not extend the elimination of the estate tax. Now Snidely Whiplash known as Uncle Sam hasn't yet extended the pay no taxes on estates over 3.5 million dollars. This tax is better known as the death tax. The US government is going to tax those who have died. Isn't it bad enough that we are taxed to death when we are alive. We will be taxed again when we go to the after life. (Those of us who are fortune enough to have 3.5 mil).

There are those of us American who think that those who are fortunate enough to sing oh daddy 's dead ya ho daddy's dead an I'm going to be stinking rich ya ho daddy dead. Well these young ins should pay there fair share of income they derived from the death of another.

Now which of these statements are correct, If any? Let the people decide.
We Currently pay no estate tax in 2010, if congress does nothing it will go to 55% in 2011.
