Oh my it's Armageddon time again. Those boy and I guess Girls at the Manhattan institute have posted that all public pension funds are underfunded by almost one 20Th of the national debt. I guess that means that that the governments aren't funding the pension funds correctly. I wounder what happened when in the past the pensions of the civil service was much more generous and there hasn't been any defaults on them that I'm aware of. After reading the report in Pravda, our former comptrollers are just a bunch of liars or their office don't know what they were talking about.after all they have been in the past stated that NYS pension fund is over funded. No were in the story did they mention who the actuaries were who were making the judgement that he pension funds are almost 1 trillion dollars underfunded. I know that New York guarantees the pension fund, do all other states, counties and municipalities.
Another group made the claim that almost 50% of house holds in the United state doesn't pay income tax and that a house hold of 4 making up to $50,000 doesn't pay federal income tax. I guess I don't know anyone who is of a family of 4 making $50,000 or less for that matter I don't know anyone who is working that doesn't pay income tax. I know several single people making less then $35000 who pay income tax. I would be more inclined to believe the numbers if it came unfiltered from the IRS and they stated that just under 50% of taxes filed got back all they payed or didn't have to file at all. They would have to e-mail it to me.
Several weeks ago I read an article in the Daily Rag by a professor assistant( what ever that is, and they are real, I looked it up) from CUNY stating that civil service workers make the same or more then their private sector counter part, his proof in this was a private administration assistant, versus an administration assistant in the city make more then his counter part. Now when I was in private industry an administration assistant was a secretary and secretary were paid poorly or were very paid. He also claimed that the two people had equal qualifications (The secretary must have had to taken a test). The gist of the article was workers used to take civil service jobs for the pension and he benefits. (Now that's not why most of the people I know took civil service jobs, the real reason was that they were out of work for a while and needed a job took a test and after a while they said F it and stayed on the job). the pay was not as good. Now judging from what I know from Disability and nursing that they recently had to raise their pay because they couldn't keep the personal.
Now as a Taxpayer I'm upset that my money is used to hire this phoney.
