One keeps hearing that the third rail of American politics is entitlement programs. Nah the real third real is ignorance.
Ignorance of the pundits, ignorance of the press, and most of all ignorance of the voters.
We don't know our constitution, even though it's written in our native language English.
We don't know our history. Worse of all we don't know what those running for office really represent.
We the people don't know what socialism means. We don't understand capitalism means (most of us think that capitalism means a free enterprise system). We don't know that the he best economic system is mixed economic system so that the free enterprise system can flourish.
I call this the third rail of politics because no one challenges the wrong headed positions of ignorance of our laws. No one seems to know that we have a mixed economic system.
Question should everybody vote on judges and school board members, especially when don't know what they represent?
I know vote for every judicial position that comes up on the ballot and I don't know if the person I'm voting thinks that every man over 60 should be placed in a nursing home.
I vote for school board persons who may or may not believe that students should go to the bathroom during the school day.
I'm like most of my fellow Americans vote with ignorance. Should we be allowed to vote?
