Steve’s Barking; Facebook should do what it does

Facebook is not a government run enterprise nor is it a nonprofit. No it’s a serious for profit enterprise. the . It doesn’t make its money from charging it’s customers a fee for using it services ( which in my opinion would decrease the value by 90%) it makes its money by selling advertising. What great for advertisers it can target its audience. It’s also an open platform were people with bad attentions can misuse the information that Facebook provides. If we believe in a free society along with a entrepreneurial society there’s only a few minor things that Facebook can do. As far as those financial analysts who are putting Facebook down I can’t but think of those who put Facebook down after it’s IPO.

Steve’s Barking; Self contained trading

Self contained trading? That’s when one country or trading block does most of its manufacturing, producing within it’s boundaries. At one point in time it was quite possible for America to manufacture and sell most If its goods within its borders and still be the among richest countries in the world. Those days are gone. China may be able to buy and sells its products within its borders better then us. European Union has more customers then us. If the rest of the Americas set up a trade federation they would be self sufficient. Would American manufacturers be hurt against self-sufficient countries or trade block? Yea they would. America is no longer the most self-sufficient block in the world.

Steve’s Barking;Didn’t know that the President of the United could set taxes

The president of United States said he’s going to set tariffs. Tariffs being a tax means that he the president can tax without congress if he he does it by executive order. Now I looked at the constitution, and to tell the truth I didn’t see it their. I saw that congress has the right to tax, I didn’t see were it says the president has the right to tax. Well I do suffer from dyslexia so maybe I just missed it. Maybe the pres does have the right to tax. * Tariffs I do recall from my history book tariffs (duties) was one of the principal forms of taxation in the early days of the republic.

Steve’s Barking; USA a nation of laws

I’ve been taught that we’re a nation of laws. This being true my nation must be a nation of law breakers. Who hasn’t Jay walked (walked across the middle of the road) at least once in a life time. Smoked in bed. Cheated on your taxes, not reported income? Touched somebody inappropriately? We’re also a nation that wants to enforces laws that don’t exist. I’m writing about you 2nd amendment nuts. No the second amendment doesn’t say any Tom, Dick or Harriet can have have a gun. It references a militia and says the right of the people to bare arms shall not be infringed, the militia in 1789 was the people’s army. Some of the founding father’s feared that the militia wouldn’t have their weapons available to them as a reference to Shay’s rebellion. The Massachusetts militia’s weapons were locked in a ware house and the head of the militia had to break into it with out permission from the continental congress. The second amendment gave permission for members of well regulated militia to controll there own weapons and have have to ask permission from congress to get there weapons.

Steve’s Barking; What so good about tariffs?

So the president thinking about putting tariffs on imported steel. Hay may maybe the U.S. deficit will be reduced with this old fashion tax that America in its infancy help to fund the government. Well it also maybe a job killer. Think of all the companies that use low cost steel, like Campbell soup that can’t pass the increase in price to the consumer therefore laying off people or having profits reduce, there by reducing the effect of lower corporate taxes. What about the price of building bridges, and new rails for our railroads, the price should go up or reducing profits for those who build them. Perhaps this country will reduce the amount of bridges and fixing our tracks. If the cost of steel goes to high for lack of compilation from foreign steel makers, perhaps too many new projects will be killed and there wouldn’t be a need of so many steel workers. Will the Fed look at the price rises and say o my gosh inflation is heating up, interest rates must rise more quickly, which might just be another job killer.
