😱 what if plagiarism isn’t really plagiarism( WTF) . What if a writer writes something that another author wrote possibly even word for word and had no idea that other person had write it.
I know of a musician who wrote a piece and before he could record it some one else had recorded a similar almost exact melody, to my knowledge there was no way that this musician could have known what the other had composed.
Getting a little more personal I wrote short children story about children who protected dragons ( I called it Hiding the Dragon) it was very similar in idea 💡 as the Children’s cartoon How To Train Your Dragon that came out several months after I had finish writing my story for my daughter.The ideas 💡 of the two were similar.
I was in the midst of writing a story about a retired man who had just lost his wife, as I was writing this story a movie came out about a retired man who just lost his wife. The last name of the character my character and the last name of the character in the movie was Schmitt. After seeing the movie 🎥 I was so disheartened I never completed the story.
In one of my blogs I stated that it may not be wise to give reparations sighting the Country of Zimbabwe, little did I know that 3 years earlier Colman Hugh’s said the same thing. I used some of the same phrasing as Mr Hugh’s even though at the time I had never heard of him. Gee I thought I was so original.
***The point of this piece is to state that sometimes idea, and even exact phrasing can come out of different persons without the second person knowing or even realizing it…I imagine that one can even use the same phrasing and the same examples when writing ✍️ research paper without realizing that this has been done before…
