While making the U.S. self-sufficient is a worth ( Maybe) cause we aren’t calculating the other monetary costs that goes with it.
When the talk of American tariffs we put in the cost of building new plants. Ya think maybe the cost of building new plants or modernizing them is tremendous and the cost of the steel and aluminum would be 20 to 50 percent higher,
What about the cost of training the workers to run the plant, does one honestly think that you can take someone off the street and run the plants. It takes time, and time is money.
What about the cost of money of borrowing, even if th fed lowers it interest that it’s half of what it is now , the cost would still be huge.
My gut feeling is that my calculations were not thought of when the tariffs were threatened.
