Steve's barking at the"R" word that scares him

The "R" word that scares me is reformer. (You were thinking I would write Republican. Not from someone who starts writing in the third person)
Reformers some times start out with their hearts in the right place like dare I say it, George Wallace.
After a loss or two they turn to the comfort zone of conservative politics.
Then you have reformers of type whom think that passing comfort legislation (like passing unenforceable tough gun controll legislation, or same sex marriage legislation) but weaken government making their reforms a joke.
I fear tax code reform, the reformers seem to hate everything that doesn't help their constituents directly, and want to keep in place what will keep them at their present job.
Now have my own idea for tax reform( perhaps I'm just as hypocritical as the next guy ) of taxing income as income and having dedicated taxes, that if  borrowed from that debt is treated as any other debt.
When I think of New York reformers,I think of the late great mayor Ed Koch, who legislated every reform that he could think of till he became mayor, who upon becoming mayor said holy sh-t how is the city going to pay for this legislation.

Steve's Barking at the non-diversification of the US Supreme Court

The United States has a problem with the supreme court not being very diversified.
Just think 4 out the nine justices are from New York City and we all know how liberal New York City is.
Do you realize that all nine justice went to Eastern Establishment  (liberal) Law Schools. Four went to Yale, and Five went to Harvard. 


Ow, I just bit my tong. 

Stevce's barking at Greece is the word

Right now the average Greek can buy a loaf of bread every day.
If the ruling parties in Greece except the European austerity measures they can get half a loaf every other day.
If the Greeks don't except the austerity measures they will only get on third of a loaf every other day.
The word is should the the Greeks elect a Parliament that will except draconian measures to stay with the Euro for one sixth of a loaf of bread every other day?
More or less to help the banks out.


The loaf of bread is just an allegory, what ever that is.

Steve's barking atgime that old time politics

I was shocked, yes shocked that a congressman would call the President of the United States a liar when he was giving his state of the Union speech. I'm so used to civility in my politics.
It seems that I have a short term memory problem. Things can get pretty nasty in Jersey politics. Actually things are not as nasty as they were in the 19th century American politics.
Hell it wasn't uncommon for ghost to vote. It wasn't even uncommon in the  big cities for members of one political party to go into the voting booth and pulling the level for the voter.
Civility in the congress was some times nonexistent many a cursing was recorded. A bop on the head from a walking stick from one member of congress to his colleague was also recorded along with challenges for duels.
It appears that I and my contemporaries have gotten soft, we expect our politics to honest and civil.
To rectify that I suggest real craziness like rigging the polling places electronically.( I know Ohio  has been accused of doing this for Bush V Kerry). In congress a cage should be placed in the middle were debates would be settled by some ultimate fighting.
Come on guys we've got to show our forefathers that we could be dirtier and tougher then them.

Steve's barking at wise man foolish man

The wise man knows how to listen, the foolish man doesn't know when to be quite.
The foolish man may for all practical purposes may not be stupid, and the wise man may not know it all, but he knows that he doesn't know it all.

The former speaker of the house I'm told is a PhD grad from Tulane University. How?
After hearing him I wounder if he would answer correctly the history question on who's smarter then a fifth grader.

I don't think that us college students of the late 6os early 70s who took an economic course were brainwashed by Samuelson.

Steve's barking at the paradox

The citizens of the United States want democracy around the word. Yet if a dually elected government is not what we want we have in the past overthrown them.
Most of my fellow citizens want to end poverty in the word, but when jobs are given to people in other parts of the world raising their standard of living, we are the first to scream unfair.
Those who clammier for freedom of speech for themselves are generally the first try to stomp it out for others. I see (conservative) commentators complain that their tax dollars are paying for things like cable and expensive phones for the poor, not realizing if it wasn't for the government handouts to some of the poor and others over extending themselves they would be poor themselves.
We complain about tax inequities as long as it's not us.
We clammier for a democratic form of government were all can be head.Yet we demand that our president cures all our ills as if he was an extreme ruler.
We complain about consummerism that if we didn't have many of us would have no work. If we had no work we would have no money. If we had no money we couldn't eat. ( We might even need the bling).

Just think if we didn't have a commercialized Christmas a third of our economy would come to halt.
* I'm probably on the low end of that. The real low end.
               
     

Steve's barking at economic terrorist

I bet most people don't know that there are economic terrorist in the United States.
These terrorist are called congressmen, or the more political correct term congressperson.
In other counties these terrorist hide out in a place called parliament.
On the the major international setting they hide out in the IMF and I believe they call themselves bankers.

These terrorist want to to away with subsidies such as farm, rail, and social services.
If I had my way, everyone would get drunk and puke on each other.

  

Steve's barking at I've got mine, too bad about you

I don't hear one Tea Party congress persons asking to end free health care for congress.
I don't hear from one Congressional Tea Party member giving up part of their pensions as a cost cutting measure.
I haven't heard from one congress person saying that members of congress should pay full price for their food in their cafeteria and their gym, while asking for cuts in food stamps.

And now lets get to that welfare queen Michele Bachmann.
She wants to end federal subsidies to tittle IVE represents which she was one.
What is that you might ask?
That's the federal subsidies given to foster care parents.
She had 23 foster care children and according to a conservative blog I happen to run across she received money from the State of Minnesota. What the blog didn't say the state got that money from the Federal Government part of Tittle IVE
Tittle IVE was part of the ADC program, in other words Michell  Bachmann got welfare money.
Anyway she part of the crew that demands cuts, deplores welfare.
In other word she got hers by being a good women by taking in foster children and help defray the cost, but in today's world those women shouldn't get federal money to help defer cost of caring for foster care children. 

The reason I'm picking on Ms Bachmann is she represents the hypocrisy of the new Republican Party.
Aid to dependent children was and possibly still is the largest part of what we call welfare.

One thing about the new Republican Party they don't believe in leading by example.

I just heard that the man with the bad hair is saying that he thinking about running for president.
He then made a birth-er like claim, was the president born in the United Stated?
Well I checked the president's birth certificate on the Internet. A copy is their with certain non -important information blacked out.
I then checked why these information was blacked out. It has to do with Hawaiian law.
Do I really I want a president who doesn't believe in the law and can't look up information on a computer.
Donald your not hired.

Steve's barking if business would be run as businessmen want the government to be run

If business would run be run as businessmen want the government to be run.
Now that's a long intro into this blog.
Let me guess this straight, there would be no borrowing of more then expected income, and dept would be very low. That being the case I guess Amazon when it started out would never have gotten off the ground. What about this guy Trump, this dude Rupert Murdock, didn't they spend a lot more money then they were taking in and were on the verge of bankruptcy.
I guess these dudes for got that how bad they had been. To be frank I'm not quite sure the previous statement is true but being a blog I can write anything I want too. Kind of like the people on Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN can say anything they want too as long as it sounds good.
While I'm at it why do  people believe that Americans live with in their means, 20 years ago maybe, but I know too many people who live from paycheck to paycheck and borrowed . This can't be that unusual for if it was there wouldn't  be as many foreclosures and reprocessed cars as there are in this country. Living beyond our means must be as American as apple pie, so why complain about the government?
Oh yes those who do the most complaining are the ones willing to spend ( even borrowing) way beyond what the job pays.
The real title of this blog should be the hypocrisy of those who tell the government to stay out of debt.

Steve barking at the mayor from fantasy land.

I know, I know fantasy land doesn't have a mayor.
I'm writing about Mayor Mike from New York City. Yes I Know New York isn't fantasy land, but my mayor seems to be in Never Never Land. If the Mayor can say on Feb 28Th 2011 that City Time contract is on time after being 12 years late he must be be the mayor of Never Never land.
If the mayor hires consultants for $300,000 and up as has been reported and complains about the health care and pension cost of City workers, he must be in Never Never land. What do consultants do anyway? Of cause I live in the real world of New York. and In the real world of New York Government consultants who are paid like that of gangsters. Mayor Mike is getting getting around civil service with it's salary scale by hiring consultants. ( No one is saying what these consultants are doing and why why their worth so much).
Mayor Mike wants to do away with last in first fired because he states that we will be (I'll try to get this straight) in times of trouble we will be able to get keep better teachers and fire teachers that aren't as good.
This being impossible to prove so he'll rely on principles who will us test score of students or other such methods. Unfortunately in the real world principles reward their favorites, and punish those they can't get along with. Again the mayor must be the mayor of Never, Never land.
I used to really like and respected this mayor, but he rigged the law giving him a third term. He comes across as a devious man who wants to get rid of teachers who aren't teaching by threatening to layoff over 7 thousand teaches and getting rid of what I used to believe was civil service law. Perhaps he wants to rid of teachers who aren't teaching or he's hoping to trim payroll by laying off those who make more.
I've been made to believe that we are a nation of laws, perhaps some believe that those law don't apply to them. 
Oh yes the mayor wants to have negotiation with unions about pensions, Well I guess a person can be  if   covered by several different kinds of pension plans,if he or she changed Jobs. Which type of pension plans would that worker be entitled too. This would be a good idea in fantasy land but not a good idea in the real world.
