Stevce's barking at Greece is the word

Right now the average Greek can buy a loaf of bread every day.
If the ruling parties in Greece except the European austerity measures they can get half a loaf every other day.
If the Greeks don't except the austerity measures they will only get on third of a loaf every other day.
The word is should the the Greeks elect a Parliament that will except draconian measures to stay with the Euro for one sixth of a loaf of bread every other day?
More or less to help the banks out.

The loaf of bread is just an allegory, what ever that is.

Steve's barking at what ever hapened taxi cab free market in NYC

They're going to raise the taxi fare in NYC, yet I haven't seen nor heard from one free marketer screaming foul. Why should the price of a cab ride be determined by some bureaucrats in City Hall.
As long as the price is posted in large letters, why shouldn't the taxi riding public decide what price they are willing to pay. Why shouldn't the self employed person, have the right to charge what ever the traffic can bare. After all this is NYC and we are part of America, and according to most American ecconomist that the free enterpise system made this country what it is today, we don't need no stinken regulations telling us what a cabbie can charge, or what the rider should pay.

wink,wink

Steve's Barking, Why Germany, Why Now

My last blog was not about Germany, it was about news.
I was trying to find out if my fears that Germany in three years is going to be in worst shape then Greece is now. I'm sitting around questioning myself when I decided to do a little research, and the first thing I want to know is what is the rate of unemployment in Germany, and how is derived. (My instincts tell me that the major corporation of Germany hold on to their current non-productive employees at a lower wage, till that worker can be productive again). Good for the company, great for having a lower unemployment rate in the country.
Getting back to my story, I google unemployment rate for Germany. I get these various sites from news sources, that tend to high light German Unemployment differently even though they have the same rate. So I say to myself why not have a blog just about that. And so my last blog came into existence.
Now getting back to why Germany, and why now, fringe party are pulling greater numbers
then main stream parties, this seems to be telling me things are not alright in this conservative of Conservative country and this shouldn't be, if the populous was content with the economy and they see the hardships of the citizens in the rest of Europe they would normally be rallying around the Christan Democrats.and Social Democrats.
My greater concern for the German economy is if it can't absorb the manufactured products and the rest of Europe surely can't a trade war with the United States and those emerging economies may bring about the next greater depression. (That isn't a misspelling, greater is the word).

Maybe it good that I have so little influence I wouldn't want to wake up the undead.

Steve's barking at venture capitalist creating jobs

Do venture capitalist create jobs?
The answer is yes, just like a great many other businesses they need to hire secretaries, and lawyers and other backroom people. My pension plan does that.
Are venture capitalist needed to help create jobs?
Probably yes.
Some one has to put up money to start up businesses and for businesses that what to expand.
Do venture capitalist have to destroy jobs?
Some one has to do the dirty work of getting rid of a bloated pay roll so that the business can thrive and be sold for high profits.

Steve's barking at a President Reagan Urban Myth

I saw Real Time on HBO yesterday.
Two of the guest were Norvel Norquest and Margaret Hoover.
To make this blog short, some one has got to tell these two idiots that President Reagan presided over one of the biggest stimulus in history by lowering tax rates (even though my taxes went up) and increasing the military budget by 3/4, now that's a stimulus if ever there was one.
Yep jobs were created and that's because of the Reagan stimulus.

As long as we let no nothing lead the discussions on stimulus packages my country is going down the toilet.

Steve's barking at flesh eating capitalism

What in the world is flesh eating capitalism?
Flesh eating capitalism is starts eating at itself  That answers that question.
No it doesn't answer the question.
Think in the terms that when the price of oil goes up the oil companies make more money, the profits of companies that depend on shipping there products shrink, that's a form of flesh eating capitalism.
Another form and possibly my favorite form of flesh eating capitalism is the desire that profits have to go up ever year, over the previous year. In order to do that the company must take risks that a prudent president of the firm would not do. Now you the reader may not understand what I'm writing about. just think of investment banks gambling with their own money instead of making pennies on every transaction. If they were to do this they would never lose, but the profit would only be pennies compared to dollars if you guess right or rig the game. If you guess wrong, all hell breaks loose, If you rig the game and get caught even bigger hell breaks loose.
Another new disease over the past decade or so are the investor activists who demand immediate gratification. If the president or the chairman of the board of said company has plans for the future of the company it very well could be destroyed by these so called activists.

* News corp is finally getting it's APS together.(That has nothing to do with this paticular blog).
** I'm going to reinterate the biggest danger to capitalism is capitalism itself.

Steve's barking at Rush Limbaugh behaving like Joan Rivers

Meow
That's the sound of Rush Limbaugh talking on the radio.
I don't understand,or maybe I do Mr. Limbaugh thinks himself as a comedian, kind of a male version Joan Rivers. I don't think he's very good at it, because most of his listeners take him very seriously.
If I would to take him seriously I'd probably question his sexuality, because of his initial statements on that MS Fluke. Given that most heterosexual men would love to have the woman take responsibility as to not pregnant, and if the government helps pay for it so what.Later he said that he would like MS fluke to record her self having sex with a man, perhaps it's because he wants to see a naked man. ( That's my meow moment).

Steve's barking the pirates have taken North Germany

While the whole world was watching France and Greece give the Bronx cheer to austerity that well adjusted country Germany  seems to be having little problem with a party calling itself the pirate party.
Now these pirates aren't you cut of the mill pirates they just want to by pass copy write laws.
Now think about it this way, if one of the two big parties in Germany need a partner in crime and they bring in the pirate party, the United States would have to say bye bye NATO.

My gut feeling is and has been for some time that present day Germany's prosperity is really a mirage.
The poles for the Merkel government say otherwise but my gut says that in the next year the German people will want to throw her out.
If no one can buy what Germany is exporting (things like cars, heavy machinery ext, then she's in real trouble, industry can not hold on to it's excess workers).

Bang!
That's the sound of Germany shooting itself in the foot by forcing austerity on the rest of Europe.

Steve's Barking at School Daze

No the title of this blog has nothing to do with Spike Lee's movie.
What's the problem with school today?
Nothing if only the children wanted to be there.
The problem is trying to get the school age children enthused about math, science, and lets throw in a little reading.
I don't have an answer for that, its just that I know that learning something from rote might help you pass a test but it's not going to make you a very good scientist, engineer, doctor or even a very good worker.
Maybe the government should set up computer centers that when a child is babbling it's first words, it sits through endless cessions of baby can read. Why not have the government buy up enough of that math program I see on television were anybody can do the most complicated problem. The babies and those new math wizards seem very enthused.

Today I see parents who are pushing their children into the computer science fields, like they used to push their kids to become doctors or lawyers. Now I kind of question how good these kids will be at these new old fields if their just drones. I also question how many of these drones are still in the science fields they went to college for five years later.

The United States has lots of math enthusiast, just think of all those fantasy sports leagues.

I also can't help but think of those computer people who college wasn't really for them, such as the two Steve's and Paul Allen.

In case anyone thinks I'm belittling higher education, not on your life, not on your life. What I'm trying to employer is this country has to create enthusiasm for what is being taught and I have no answer as to how.

Steve's barking at you didn't say how

Saw on the boob tube the  other day failed boss of a major computer company saying that we have to improve the nations school system, now for the life of me I can't recall what the answer was to improve the American School systems, maybe it was extended the school year? I'm not sure that's the greatest idea. The majority of the children in our school systems hate going to school almost as much as our cable news network reporters and commentators hate doing research.

I heard that a presidential candidate proclaim that we liquidated debt and didn't have big government programs.(yes I know Truman had a surplus at one time) Didn't the GI Bill put returning GIs in college? What was the Marshall Plan? Wasn't that a major government program? I must have misheard this candidate.
